This trip starts from the fourth holiest Islamic city in the world, Harar (East Ethiopia). It has long Islamic history and Arab world influences. The city is fortified by the big wall the so called “Jegol”. Then after your journey tends to the home of vibrant culture “Omo valley”. Upon arrival in Addis Ababa you will met and assisted by our Guide and transfer in your hotel. After check in and coffee break you will have a half day city tour. Your city tour includes; National Museum, Entoto hills, and Markato(The biggest open air market in Africa). Accommodation at: Hotel.
Our driver waits you at the airport. After coffee break you keep drive to Harar, According to historical texts, Muslim city of Harar was dated back to 16th century. In 1521, Sultan Barr Sa'd ad-din sultanate moved his capital from Dakkar to Harar. In the same century built defense wall named Jegol around Harar. The old fortified city of harar keeps in mind by many travelers. It has more than 85 active mosques, many museums, Cultural houses…One of The Best Experiences of Harar is to see the hyena man. He is a man who tames the wild Hyena. He is usually found at his place after 6:30 AM. He feeds Meat to the wild hyenas every night. Sometimes by holding meat in his mouth and a Hyena comes to Grab. The Hyenas obey him and they will not come unless he calls them by their names. It is a nice experience to feed the Hyena, many do it and you may also feed them some meat mouth to mouth. The journey from Harar to Awash is a distance of approximately 300 kilometers, primarily traversing through the Ethiopian highlands. After breakfast start your journey to Hawassa. One the way stopover awash national to have a look Awash waterfall. This day all the drive is through the Great African Rift valley. Accommodation at: Hawassa, Hotel.
Hawassa is a city in the Great Rift Valley of central Ethiopia. It lies at the eastern edge of large Lake Awasa, with its resident hippos. Water birds gather around a popular fish market along the lake’s shore. One of the morning activities in the city is the Fish market. After visiting Hawassa in the morning you will take a short drive to Yirgalem, a small town in the forest. Once you settling your hotel, do a memorable walk through indigenous trees and coffee plantations, finally you will be arrived at Sidama village and have a wonderful experience in this unique village. After breakfast drive to Arbaminch, it is located between the two big rift valley Lakes, Abbaya and chamo.
Before arrived the town drive upon Chencha Mountains to visit indigenous Dorze people. The Dorze people are known for their tall beehive-like houses and their fine cotton weaving. You will visit the village and learn about the daily lives of these industrious people. Accommodation at: Arbaminch, Hotel.
Drive Arba Minch to Konso, 85 km and visit Konso tribal village, remarkable stone terraced field, Museum of Wooden Statue.
The Konso villages are a flowing composition of rock walls and wood. They have an amazing terracing culture for the last 800 years. It is registered by UNESCO. After lunch keep drive to the culture center of omo valley.
In the afternoon we are guests in a typical Hammer village. Above all, they attach great importance to their headdress and their hairstyle. The hair is rubbed with a mixture of butter, lime and ochre earth, shaped and decorated with feathers. With a bit of luck we can be there when the young men do their bull jump to show the community his marriage readiness. Accommodation at: Turmi, Lodge.
In the morning drive to Omorate to visit one of amazing tribe in omo valley "Dasanech". The dasanech situated the south bank of omo river. They have 8 clans and one of them located in Kenya. The Dasanech are very unique with their dome shaped huts and high jumping dances. After you stop your car, you will be crossed the omo river with a wooden boat.
After lunch in Turmi, drive to karo tribe. The Karo tribe is situated the bank of omo river. They are the smallest in number. People can distinguish them by their colorful body paintings. Accommodation at:Turmi, Lodge.
Aftrer an early breakfast drive to Mursi via Jinka. The Mursi; The people with the plate lips, our trip to the Mago national park with a visit to a Mursi village is something unique. the special feature of the Mursi are the clay plates in the cut lips of the women. But the body paintings and the scarce of the men are also extraordinary.
In the afternoon visit Ari village around the town. you will get such a wonderful experiences of Pottery, metal works, cooking local dishes, preparing alcohols. Accommodation at: Jinka, hotel/ Lodge.
Up on arrival, we will have a couple of hours of free hours, if you have any personal interest, like shopping, art Galleries, etc.. Our driver and guide will assist you. Before you departure, you will have a Farewell dinner in an Ethiopian traditional restaurant. Also, we will enjoy some traditional music. Finally, transfer out to the airport.
